Cosponsored by UIS Diversity Center and NAACP
This Black History Month event will begin with the screening of the
30-minute film “Springfield Had No Shame: The Springfield Race Riot of
1908”. It will then be followed by a panel discussion with the current
president of NAACP’s Springfield and Illinois Chapter, Teresa Haley, as
well as previous presidents, and members of the NAACP. The panelists
will discuss the history and plight of the NAACP since its establishment
in 1909 up until now, 110 years later.
